Equal Voices Category

The Equal Voices Category is open to T(T)B(B) singing in equal voices or S(S)A(A).

The minimum age limit for this category is 15 years old.

The competing choir must have a minimum number of twenty (20) singers, while the maximum number of singers is forty (40). However, the number of singers may be reduced for the Renaissance piece.

The total performance time, excluding entrance and exit, must be a minimum of 16 minutes and must not exceed 18 minutes.

Each competing choir must perform:

one (1) Renaissance/Early Baroque Period composition a cappella (NOTE: Pieces originally written for mixed choir and arranged for equal voices are allowed.);

one (1) Romantic Period composition (may be accompanied by a pitched instrument);

one (1) 20th - 21st century composition a cappella; and
-
one (1) freely chosen composition a cappella.

Only the Romantic piece may be accompanied by a pitched instrument. Otherwise, all songs must be performed a cappella or with unpitched instruments.

The use of microphones and other sound amplification is NOT allowed.
